Oakton's Bartnicki earns player of the week honors for second time this season

Owls women's basketball forward is the player of the week for the second time during the 2015-2016 campaign.

Owls sophomore forward Rebecca Bartnicki (Chicago, Guerin Prep) was named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Region IV player of the week on Monday, Feb. 8, for her stellar performances against Waubonsee Community College, Morton College and Moraine Valley College last week. This is the second time this season she has received this honor. Previously, she earned the accolade on Dec. 7, 2015.

Against the trio of Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) opponents, Bartnicki provided a strong inside presence by tallying three double-doubles in three contests the week of Feb. 1, averaging 16.7 points and 14.0 rebounds. She also was a menace defensively totaling 12 blocks in the three games.

“Rebecca has been a key player for us for two years and this week she really turned up the heat with her play and motivating her teammates,” said Owls Head Coach Melissa Rauschenberg. “It was a great week to coach and watch her.”
