Six-Week Workshop: Powerful Tools for Caregiving
Kenneth Young Center is offering a six-week series of empowering classes for the caregivers of the older adults.
Kenneth Young Center is offering a six-week series of empowering classes for the caregivers of the older adults. These classes have impacted the lives of the participants in a variety of positive ways, such as, increased self-confidence, improved communication with family members, better self-care; and enhanced capacity to cope with their relatives’ declining abilities and behavioral changes.
The tools learned in this workshop series help caregivers to communicate their needs and feelings and understand how the disease affects behavior; identify the stressors in their life and learn how to effectively cope with this stress. It will also educate participants on alternative ways to deal with lifestyle changes that occur and help them practice new strategies to deal with their own emotions and needs. Additionally, the series will help individuals learn how to seek out the resources which are available to them.
Classes will be held at Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Roncoli Center, in Elk Grove Village, Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. starting June 11 and running through July 16.
