13 Cars Burglarized In 1 Night In Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Police in Downers Grove are investigating a string of incidents in which 13 cars were burglarized overnight. The burglaries took place between Sunday and Monday, according to a police report.

In most of the instances, the cars had been left unlocked and were rifled through, but nothing was taken, police say. Here's a rundown of where and when each of the burglaries took place.

1500 block of Snowberry Court

Police say four cars were burglarized in the 1500 block of Snowberry Court between 10 p.m. Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday. A Leatherman tool and a set of keys were reported stolen from one resident's GMC Sierra, according to a police report.

At a neighboring address, a resident told police that someone rifled through the inside of their Audi and Dodge Ram, but reported that nothing was missing.

A Mercedes-Benz was also entered and rifled through at another neighboring address in the same block, but police say nothing was reported stolen.

1000 block of Braemoor Drive

According to police, a car was burglarized in the 1000 block of Braemoor Drive sometime between 8 p.m. Sunday and 7:50 a.m. Monday. The resident told police that they went outside to find the doors to their car were open and that someone had rifled through their glove compartment. No items were reported stolen.

3600 block of Buckthorn

A resident told police that their Mercedes-Benz had been entered sometime between 10 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 a.m. Monday. Nothing was reported stolen.

3700 block of Downers Drive

Police say that someone burglarized a Ford F-150 just before 3 a.m. and left the doors to the vehicle open. The owner reported that nothing was stolen.

3800 block of Downers Drive

According to police, someone rifled through the inside of Jeep Grand Cherokee between 10 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday, but nothing was reported missing.

1600 block of 40th Street

Three vehicles were burglarized in the 1600 block of 40th Street between 10 p.m. Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday, police say. The owner told police that their Ford F150, Ford Explorer, and Jeep Patriot had been rifled through, but nothing had been stolen.

6200 block of Brookbank Road

A resident told police that their work vehicle was burglarized around 2 a.m., but that nothing had been stolen.

1400 block of Arrow Wood Lane

According to police, someone burglarized a Hyundai Sante Fe in the 1400 block of Arrow Wood Lane sometime between 12 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 a.m. Monday. Police say a Lenovo Idea Pad and a Nike backpack were reported stolen.
