17 Teachers Awarded Grants From Downers Grove Junior Woman's Club
Downers Grove Junior Woman's Club awarded grants to 17 teachers from District 58 and District 99.
DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Downers Grove Junior Woman's Club (DGJWC) recently awarded 17 education grants to teachers in Downers Grove. The grants were given to teachers throughout Downers Grove Grade School District 58, Community High School District 99 and Transition 99 Center.
“We were so excited that such an incredible group of educators applied to our grant this year. In fact, so many educators applied that the club decided to increase the amount of grants awarded from 9 to 17!," DGJWC Education Committee Co-Chair, Ami Johanson said in a news release.
She added, “Through a combination of internal funds and generous donations from our club members, we were able to increase funds and award almost double the amount of grants we gave out the previous year.”

The following grants were awarded to Downers Grove teachers:
- Elizabeth Lukes of Pierce Downer Elementary School, for a 3-D printer for art and computer aided design (CAD) classes
- Ashley Austin of Henry Puffer Elementary School, for social emotional learning resources
- Elizabeth Moravec of Lester/Belle Aire/Henry Puffer/Pierce Downer, for art materials for art making and monoprints
- Jennifer Johnson of O'Neill Middle School, for science club materials
- Stephanie Henrikson of Downers Grove South High School, for physical education, dance class materials
- Trevor Parker of Downers Grove South High School, for seminar resources, in-person programming and guest speakers
- Jennifer Hodkowski of Whittier Elementary School, for engineering kits for STEM club
- Katie Porter of Whittier Elementary School, for resource room materials for math, reading and writing support
- Nicole VanMilligan of Kingsley Elementary School, for reading intervention kits
- Georgi Beck of Kingsley Elementary School, for art club materials
- Jamie Krier of Kingsley Elementary School, for non-fiction library books
- Joanne Smith of Transition 99 Center, for an iron press for microbusiness packaging
- Meghan Beard of Lester Elementary School, for math mania club games
- Mary Loversky of El Sierra Elementary School, for dual language books
- Kelly Wyatt of El Sierra Elementary School, for social emotional learning books and resources
- Andrea Leith of Downers Grove North High School, for physical education, dance shoes and materials
- Candace Adeszko of Grove Children's Preschool, for classroom fine motor skills kits
“It is always an amazing and special experience to review the applications," Allison McNulty, co-chair of DGJWC Education Committee said.
