$25K Stolen From Downers Grove Home While Owners Grabbed Dinner
Burglars pried open the door to the home and stole cash, wine, and silverware in the 6900 block of Grand Ave.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Police say more than $25,000 in cash was reported stolen from a home in Downers Grove while the owners were out grabbing food at Subway. The burglary took place on Nov. 4 just before 8 p.m. in the 6900 block of Grand Ave.
The victims told police they left the home briefly to grab dinner and returned to find the front door had been pried open and the home had been ransacked. The intruder(s) allegedly removed an envelope containing $25,000 cash from the bedroom, along with several other items throughout the home.
The owners reported that three bottles of wine, stainless steel utensils, and several small Llardos figurines were also taken during the burglary.

The total estimated loss is $27,030.
This is the second home burglary reported in Downers Grove in days. A home in the 6400 block of Davane was broken into Nov. 3 or Nov. 4 while its owners were at their daughter's wedding.
