Burglars Hit Downers Grove Home As Owners' Daughter Gets Married
Burglars broke into a home in the 6400 block of Davane Ct. after the owners left with their daughter's bridal party.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Burglars broke into and ransacked a Downers Grove home while its residents were at their daughter's wedding, according to police. The incident took place in the 6400 block of Davane Ct. sometime between Nov. 3 at 2:30 p.m. and Nov. 4 at 12:59 a.m., the owners told police.
According to a police report, the suspect(s) pried open the back door of the residence and tore apart the home. The owners came home to find several lights on, jewelry strewn around the bedroom, and papers scattered throughout the house. They reported multiple valuables missing.
The victim told police most of the wedding party had been in the residence and left with them at 2:30 p.m. Photographers had been in the home at that time, but they left with the wedding party and stayed late at the reception, according to what the homeowner told police.

The stolen items include a black peal necklace and earring set, a gold wedding band with three rubies, and the woman's mother's wedding ring. An 18-carat gold cross was also taken, police say.
Police observed that the burglars had opened some wedding gifts and stole an unidentified amount of cash from one wedding car.

The total loss is estimated at $5,000.
