6 Republicans Compete For 11th Congressional District: IL Primary 2022
Six Republican candidates are competing for a chance to take Democratic Rep. Bill Foster's seat in the 11th Congressional District.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — In the 2022 Illinois General Primary Election, six Republicans are hoping to earn a chance to snag the seat in Illinois's 11th Congressional District from Rep. Bill Foster (D, IL-11) come November.
Foster was first elected in 2013 and is running unopposed in the June 28 Democratic primary.

Mark Carroll earned a liberal arts degree from Hillside College and served as an intern and staff assistant for the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on the Constitution, per his website. Carroll later graduated from law school at Northern Illinois University.
Carroll's political platform states that he would "support a Constitutional Amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman" and asserts that life begins at conception. Carroll's campaign also supports securing the U.S. border.
Jerry Evans
Jerry Evans earned a degree in music from Wheaton College and founded a music school. As a musician, Evans has performed on six Christian albums, per his website.
Evans's campaign priorities include supporting law enforcement, vaccine choice and veterans' services. He also aims to secure the United States border and supports pro-life and pro-family legislation, according to his campaign website.
Susan Hathaway-Altman
Susan Hathaway-Altman has spent more than a decade working in the fields of business and supply chains.
Hathaway-Altman describes herself as a "devoted Catholic with pro-life and Midwest values," according to her Susan for Congress campaign page. Hathaway-Altman supports closing U.S. borders and supporting law enforcement. She is also in favor of funding mental health programs to help make schools safer, her website states.
Andrea Heeg
Andrea Heeg earned her Bachelor's degree in communication from St. Norbert College before receiving her Master's Degree in speech communication from Eastern Illinois University. Heeg's career includes experience in business consulting, consumer banking and marketing, according to her website.
Heeg's campaign website states that she aims to "restore parents as the rightful decision makers in their children’s education." Her platform also supports local law enforcement and "strong national defense to deter those who would harm America and our allies."
Catalina Lauf
Catalina Lauf works in the private sector for a startup company and was a Presidential political appointee at the U.S. Department of Commerce, according to her campaign website.
Lauf's political platform states, "As the daughter of an immigrant from Central America, my family and I know the value of a safe and secure border and the need for legal immigration." She supports removing Critical Race Theory from public schools and states that she is "a vocal opponent of the Left’s radical position in support of late-term abortion, partial-birth abortion, and infanticide," per her website.
In 2019, she touted herself as the "anti-AOC," referring to Sen. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, an outspoken liberal from New York as she unsuccessfully fought to unseat Democratic Rep. Lauren Underwood in the 14th District.
Cassandra Tanner Miller
Cassandra Tanner Miller serves on the Domestic Fatality Review Commission in Illinois and Colton’s Task Force, a coalition she started after her 18-month-old son was murdered by her first husband in 2019, her website explains.
Miller's campaign platform states, "I’m not a politician. I’m a mom, running for Congress to put the focus on common sense, kitchen table issues that people actually worry about." She supports a balanced budget and opposes defunding law enforcement.
Bill Foster
Elected in 2013 to represent District 11, Rep. Bill Foster previously represented Illinois's 14th Congressional District from 2008 to 2011. He currently serves on the House Financial Services Committee and as chairman of its task force on Artificial Intelligence, his website states.
Foster formerly worked as a high-energy physicist and particle accelerator designer at FermiLab and currently serves on the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee and chairs its Investigations and Oversight Subcommittee.
