Amazing DGPD and LWFD and a good Samaritan saved our life

My daughter and i were involved in a scary incident on 2/27 on Belmont. While i was driving. So many people stopped to help.

On Tuesday feb 27th, me and my 11 yr old daughter were driving south on Belmont. It was just after school. We were headed to Family video.

The next thing i remember is police everywhere, lights and sirens, hearing my daughter screaming and a police officer standing next to me..as i was still seated in the car. I didn't notice i was apparently on the grass/sidewalk area. There was a lady infront of my car speaking w officers. An officer was speaking to my crying daughter..and nothing registered that something had just happened. I thought maybe the road was shut down for some other reason. I was fairly calm. The officer then began asking me questions...the date and month. I remember saying yes of course i know the month...however, when i could not answer i knew something was not right.

It turns out, I apparently had a grandmal seizure while driving. Ended up going up the curb. My poor daughter started waving out the window for help. Some amazing lady stopped. My daughter managed to put my car in park..then dialed 911. I have no memory of any of this. Im going by what i was told. Needless to say...i needed to go to the er. As we sat waiting for the ambulance the officer never left my side. And there was another officer w my daughter..that never left her side. Jay Johnson and Jeffrey Mertz. They are our angles. They kept us both calm. I wasnt able to console my little girl very much as i began to realize i was very much out of it, unable to comprehend the severity or even communicate adequately. The officer kept her breathing and kept reassuring her things will be ok. While the other officer kept me talking and reassuring me that my girl will be ok. And they stayed there...right next to us...untill we were safely in the ambulance. He assured me hed take care of my car. He made sure my daughter had her school bag..my purse..everything!

Ive never been in an ambulance before. Nor has my daughter. And definitely not with lights and sirens! Talk about intense! All i can rememeber is hearing my daughter still hysterical..i believe she was on the phone trying to contact family. The paramedic in back with me..Gary Pec was amazing. He was kind and gentle, he kept me talking and knew i was upset hearing my daughter in such distress. He made it a very personal, intimate, expearience during a crazy scary emotional time. I didnt feel just like "another call"...i could feel how much he cared and his genuine concern for my daughter and myself. In addition to the clinical duties..starting and IV, blood pressure etc. He will forever have a piece of my heart.

Meanwhile I could hear the driver, Joshua Runge caring for my daughter. Which could not have been easy! She was crying so hard, she couldn't speak. But Josh showed kindess and patience and immense empathy for this terrified little girl. And as a mother, knowing your child is being watched after and cared for with such intense compassion...well it leaves me speechless. And any parent Im sure can understand! It was a horrible scary experience, no doubt about it. But you can tell ..all these guys really really cared. With all their heart. And this lady who stopped..and helped my little girl. Shes a gift from God...and i have no idea who she is or how to find her!! Which is part of my reason for writting this. Maybe someone can help me find her. Her name isnt in police report. And i need her to know what an impact she made on me my daughter and my entire family.

So in addition to the paramedics and the kindness of the officers, I later found out the one of the sherriff deputies...deputy Smith went to my house to alert my uncle, with whom i live, of what happened. Then gave him a ride to get my car so he can make it to the hospital. Talk about above and beyond!!

Sergant Grossi, Deputy Richardson, and deputy Smith from the sherrif dept, Jay Johnson and Jeff Mertz from the DGPD, and paramedics Gary Pec and Josh Runge. These guys are my heros. Me and my daughter. They all have a piece of our heart. My entire family will be forever indebted to them. It will be my life long mission to meet these guys. And hopefully by the grace of God...someday, I will find this lady who stopped for my daughter...when she needed her most. That lady also saved our life.

I want everyone, everywhere to know about all these amazing humans. And the good that is still out there. Its not all the horrible things we hear on the news. There are regular, real people out here that make the ultimate difference in someones life. In this case..it was me and my 11 yr old.

I am determined to turn this traumatic experience into a positive story to share with people and show that miracles happen, and Angles exsist. And as scary as that day was...it as made life-long impact. A life altering occurrence indeed. But good will come from it as well.

And i feel it my duty to share my story, for everyone to know how fast life changes..and how many good amazing people are out there. Right next to you. And you dont even know it...untill it matters the most.

So where you all are...whoever can read this. From me and my daughter. Thank you. God bless you. You will all live inside my heart. Your kindess and compassion will now be part of me and my daugter forever.
