Avec Panache, Beloved Downers Grove Fixture, To Close

The eclectic shop has been a mainstay in Downers Grove since 2008.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — One of the most beloved shops in downtown Downers Grove will soon be closing its doors. The owners of Avec Panache announced Tuesday that they will be retiring.

The female-owned gift shop opened its doors in 2008 at the intersection of Main and Curtiss and quickly became a fixture in the village. After the owners announced their retirement on Facebook, comments rolled in expressing congratulations and sadness.

"Bad news for us, good news for you! Congrats on fulfilling your dream and proving that women can make a great team both personally and professionally," Marti J. Sladek responded, summing up the sentiments of many residents.
