Barnett Faces Challenger, Candidates Vie For Council Seats: Report
Downers Grove Mayor Bob Barnett will be challenged by Marshall Schmitt and several candidates are hoping to snag a village council seat.
DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Downers Grove's candidates in the 2023 general consolidated election recently turned in their nominating petitions. The race is slated for April 4, 2023.
As Mayor Bob Barnett hopes to snag a second term, he faces a challenge from Marshall Schmitt, according to Daily Herald. Barnett was elected mayor of Downers Grove in 2019.
Several candidates are also vying for the three open seats on the village council.Leslie Sadowski-Fugitt announced in late August that she would seek reelection. Joining her in the race for a seat on the village council are Michael Davenport, James Devitt, Denise McCann Tammy Sarver and Martin Tully, who formerly served as Mayor of Downers Grove for eight years.

Those who oppose a candidate's petition can file an objection by Dec. 5.
