Bonfield Express Donates $13K to District 58 Schools

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — District 58 has a little extra cash in its coffers thanks to a $13,000 donation from Bonfield Express Foundation. The foundation, which sponsors the annual Bonfield Express 5K in Downers Grove, donated $1,000 to each of the 13 schools in District 58.

The schools plan to use the donations to fund educational resources and to pay recognition to students who "display extra effort and citizenship," qualities that were important to the foundation's namesake, the late Jim Bonfield.

The race, which takes place on Thanksgiving morning every year, is a beloved event for the community in Downers Grove and it also helps fund other donations like the one just received by District 58. District Superintendent Kari Cremascoli expressed her gratitude in an email from the school and said, “The Bonfield Express benefits every single one of our schools and truly makes a difference for our students."

Cremascoli knows the benefits of the Bonfield Express 5K firsthand too, since her family —like many other families in Downers Grove— has made it a tradition to take part in the race each year. She added, "The event is made extra special by knowing that the Foundation gives back to our students and our community.”
