Dry Skin Brushing

Dry skin brushing can be good for your health!

The benefits of dry skin brushing are many, including shedding of dead skin cells, increased circulation and stimulated lymphatic system.   Stimulating the circulatory and lymphatic systems can help remove toxins from your body, and exfoliating can leave you with soft skin.

For best results skin brushing should be performed once a day, preferably in the morning. You can follow the simple steps below, and start enjoying the positive effects skin brushing can have on your overall health.

1. Buy a brush with natural fibers and a long handle.
2. Before getting into the shower or bath, brush your skin in long, even strokes, always brushing towards your heart.  Start with your hips and move toward your feet, then from your shoulders toward your hands...again, it's very important to direct the brush strokes up, towards your heart.  Lastly brush your torso using circular counter-clockwise strokes on your abdomen, and upward strokes on your back. Try to brush several times in each area, over-lapping as you go.
3. Once you’re done jump into the shower!
4. Wash your brush once every week in plain water and allow to dry completely before using again.
