The Senior Suburban Orchestra (SSO), now in its 26th season, invites the public to a Family and Friends Concert.
The concert will commemorate America’s 250th anniversary with a program of music by American composers. Patriotic selections will include Sousa’s The Stars & Stripes Forever and The Battle Hymn of the Republic including a narration of the Declaration of Independence. Also featured will be Aaron Copeland's Fanfare for the Common Man and An Outdoor Overture. A Tribute to Duke Ellington and a sing-along of familiar songs from The Sound of Music will fill out the second half of the program..
The Orchestra’s conductor, Dan Pasquale D’Andrea, has been with the orchestra since its beginning in 2000, and has helped develop the orchestra into an award-winning 40+ piece performing organization, which presents up to 15 concerts per year for venues such as retirement homes, schools, and community organizations. Although there is no charge for the concert, donations are appreciated. A reception with light refreshments will follow the concert.
