The Senior Suburban Orchestra (SSO) invites area musicians to participate in one or both of the summer sight-reading sessions, July 21 and August 11.
There are openings for all strings and selected woodwinds, brass and percussion. There is no charge to participate and no age limit. Bring your own instrument and stand. Contact Lori Davis at 630-935-7103 or lsd542000@yahoo.com to register.
During the July session, we will read Symphony No. 9, Op. 95 (New World Symphony) by Dvorak. On the menu for August will be Gershwin’s An American in Paris, Barber’s Second Essay, Op. 17, and Riegger’s Dance Rhythms, Op. 58.
The Orchestra’s conductor, Dan Pasquale D’Andrea, has been with the orchestra since its inception in 2000, and has helped develop the orchestra into an award-winning 40+ piece performing organization, which presents up to 15 concerts per year for venues such as retirement homes, schools, and community organizations.
