Car Stolen, Steering Column Stripped From 2 Others: Downers Grove PD

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A car was stolen and the steering column was stripped from two other cars in Downers Grove in late August, according to the village's police blotter for late August.

Car Broken Into in 2100 Block of Prentiss Drive

A resident told police someone shattered the glass on their 2013 Kia Soul and peeled off the plastic that houses the steering wheel column. Police say the incident took place sometime between 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 26 and and 6:20 a.m. on Aug. 28.

Car Stolen in 5300 Block of Cumnor Road

A black 1997 Volvo was reported stolen from outside of a home on Cumnor Road, police say. The car's owner parked the vehicle outside on the road around 11 p.m. on Aug. 27. When they returned around 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 28, they discovered the car was missing.

Car Burglarized in 7300 Block of Fairview Avenue

Someone broke into a Kia Rio while it was parked in the 7300 block of Fairview. The car's owner told police someone smashed a window and then peeled away the housing on the steering column. The incident took place between 5:15 p.m. on Aug. 29 and 6:20 a.m. on Aug. 30.
