Catalytic Converter Thieves Strike Businesses, Homes In Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Catalytic converter thefts are on the rise in Downers Grove, with thieves hitting businesses and several homes in the first few weeks of August, according to recent crime blotters.

18 Catalytic Converters Stolen from Hawk Ford Parts Warehouse

Police say someone cut a chain link fence and stole catalytic converters from 18 Chevrolet 4500 box trucks that were parked at Hawk Ford Parts Warehouse, 5130 Walnut Ave. The incident took place sometime during the weekend of July 29 and July 31. Officers who investigated the thefts say they found sawzall blades not far from the scene.

Catalytic Converter Stolen from Truck at Detail Kings

A catalytic converter was cut from a 2013 Dursastar 4300 that was parked at Detail Kings, 2001 Butterfield Rd. According to police, the theft happened between 5 p.m. on July 29 and 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 1.

Catalytic Converter Stolen from Truck in 5200 Block of Thatcher Road

Someone stole a catalytic converter from a truck that was parked at a business in the 5200 block of Thatcher Road, according to a crime blotter. The theft took place sometime between 10 p.m. on July 29 and 5 a.m. on Aug. 1.

Catalytic Converter Stole in 500 Block of 75h Street

A victim told police the catalytic converter was stolen from their car while it was parked in an apartment building lot in the 500 block of 75th Street. Police say the incident happened between 8 p.m. on Aug. 1 and 7 a.m. on Aug. 2.

Catalytic Converters Stolen from Two Trucks Parked in 5100 Block of Thatcher Road

Catalytic converters were cut and stolen from two work trucks that were parked at a business in the 5100 block of Thatcher Road, according to police. The victim told police the incident took place sometime between 10 p.m. on July 29 and 5 a.m. on Aug. 1.

Catalytic Converters Stolen from Cars Parked At Best Western

Thieves stole catalytic converters from cars that were parked at Best Western, 3010 Finley Rd. The first incident took place between 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 3 and 7 a.m. on Aug. 4. The second theft took place around 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 5, according to the village's crime blotter.

Catalytic Converter Stolen from Car Parked in 3000 Block of Finley Road

A catalytic converter was cut and stolen from a 2004 Honda Accord that was parked at a business in the 3000 block of Finley Road sometime between 6 p.m. on Aug. 4 and 8:45 a.m. on Aug. 5
