Celebrate Christmas Victorian-Style In Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL --- Downers Grove Museum will host a special event to ring in the holidays just as revelers did during the Victorian era. On Dec. 8, Merry and Bright: A Victorian Christmas will welcome kids and kids-at-heart of all ages to celebrate the season with a campfire, a visit from Santa Claus, and a peek into what life was like in Victorian Downers Grove.

During the event, you can take a tour of Blodgett House, a beloved Downers Grove landmark that was built in 1892 and epitomizes Victorian architecture. The house will be draped in garland and wreaths that hearken back to the traditional holiday decorations of the time.

Singers will croon Victorian carols to keep spirits festive as guests share stories around a campfire, sip cocoa, and tell their holiday wishes to Santa Claus. Beer and wine will also be available for purchase for adults who attend.
