Cops Resolve 'Suspicious Incident' In Downers Grove

Police investigated an incident in which a girl was offered a ride by a man.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL --- Police in Downers Grove say there is no danger to the public after they completed an investigation of what appeared to be a "suspicious incident." The investigation began after a 12-year-old girl told authorities she had been offered a ride to school early Thursday by a man she did not know.

In a press release, police said they had identified the man involved in the incident and "determined there was no threat to the general public." They stressed that although law enforcement believes there was no risk to "any member of the public," parents and children should still be vigilant and be familiar with what to do if kids are approached by a stranger.
