WESTMONT, IL — Police say a Westmont man had an open bottle of Corona and a blood alcohol concentration (B.A.C.) of more than twice the legal limit in Illinois when he fled officers Monday night.

Brock Vidito, 21, of the 4100 block of Park Street, is currently being held on $250,000 bond in connection with the incident. Vidito was out on bond for unrelated aggravated DUI charges and assault charges when Monday's incident took place. He was subsequently charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding a police officer, aggravated DUI and misdemeanor charges as well.

Residents called police around 8 p.m. on Memorial Day to report they saw a truck speeding near Grant and Richmond Streets. An officer who responded to the call later reported seeing Vidito run multiple stop signs while being signaled to pull over.

Police arrested Vidito after he pulled into the driveway of a home. Officers say Vidito had a B.A.C. of 0.186 when he was taken into custody.

“Public safety remains a top priority of my office and while the allegations against Mr. Vidito do not include a high-speed chase, what he is accused of is just as dangerous," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a news release. "Driving through a residential neighborhood during a holiday weekend with a B.A.C. more than twice the legal limit and ignoring multiple stop signs as alleged in this case, put not just the motoring public at risk but also the entire neighborhood."
