DCBA Mourns Loss of Judge John (Jack) Darrah
DuPage County John (Jack) Darrah judge dies at age 78, leaving a long legacy of justice and public service.

WHEATON, IL-- The DuPage County Bar Association (DCBA) is sad to report the March 23rd passing of Judge John (Jack) Darrah at age 78. On the news of his passing, DCBA President Ted Donner said "Judge Darrah was a remarkable jurist, a great friend to our bar association, and an important mentor for many. You can't practice in DuPage County long without meeting former students of his, all of whom learned from him what it means to be an attorney. He will be sorely missed."
Lawrence Stein, Chair of the DCBA Civil Law Section and a former mentee of Judge Darrah added, "Jack captivated attention with his unique, yet down to earth, teaching style. On the bench he suffered no fools, while guiding young lawyers. His contributions to justice cannot be overstated. Those he taught and mentored will carry on his legacy for decades. I feel an enormous sense of loss." To memorialize Judge Darrah's life and career, Stein has started a Wikipedia page to which all who knew or worked with Darrah are encouraged to contribute.
Judge Darrah was a U.S. District Court Judge for the Northern District of Illinois, serving since his appointment in 2000. Joining the DCBA in 1972, Darrah made significant contributions to the DCBA, serving as its President (1983-84) and helped found the annual Judges' Nite show and Trial Advocacy Training program.
