District 58 Students Design Winning Fire Escape Plans
Five students will get to ride to school in a fire truck for designing winning home fire escape plans in a recent contest.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Five students from Downers Grove Grade School District 58 will get to ride to school in a fire truck after their original designs won the fire department's Home Fire Escape Plan contest.
The following third grade students were chosen as winners:
- Evan G. of Highland School
- Addie P. of Indian Trail School
- Emma B. of Kingsley School
- Ashley E. of Lester School
- Caroline A. of Whittier School
The contest is part of the Learn Not to Burn program, which blossomed out of a partnership between the Downers Grove Fire Department and District 58. The initiative teaches students about fire safety and encourages them to use that knowledge to craft a fire escape plan to use in their own homes.
