Downers Grove Coronavirus Cases Increase By 8 Percent In 1 Week

As of Wednesday, 603 cases have been reported in the village.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — The number of coronavirus cases in Downers Grove has increased by 8 percent in the past week, according to information from the DuPage County Health Department.

As of Sept. 2, the village had reported 558 cases of the new coronavirus. Those numbers had increased to 603 as of Sept. 9.

In nearby Westmont, the number of coronavirus cases had increased by 2 percent. As of Sept. 2, there were 522 cases reported in Westmont. The number of cases reported in Westmont as of Sept. 9 was 533.

The health department's dashboard indicated Wednesday that the countywide community transmission was moderate. In recent weeks, there has been an increase in the number of persons between 20 and 29 who have reported cases of coronavirus.

As of Sept. 2, 2,800 people between the ages of 20 and 29 have had coronavirus in DuPage County. That number increased to 3,005 as of Sept. 9, reflecting an overall increase of 7 percent for that age group.

Those between the ages of 30 and 49 saw an increase of 5 percent in positive cases. For ages 50 to 69, there was also a 5 percent increase in positive cases.
