JK and the Jam Perform at Fishel Park on Tues., Aug. 27 at 7 p.m.
This concert, led by Downers Grove native Justin Kono is sponsored by First Congregational United Church of Christ.
Led by Downers Grove native Justin Akira Kono, JK and the Jam will perform in a free concert at Fishel Park on Tuesday, August 27 at 7:00 p.m. The eight-piece band featuring vocalists Kelley Calpin and Emily Durham will perform top 40 hits, 80s music, R&B, funk, and gospel songs.
Justin Kono, band leader, said that their vocalists “sing some selections in the undefinable stylings of Amy Winehouse and Paramore, all brought to life with an incredibly versatile horn section.”

Having performed at venues as varied as the Symphony Center to the House of Blues, Kono brings his experience as a percussionist, conductor, teacher, writer, and a graduate of the DePaul University School of Music to JK and the Jam.
Today, Kono is also creating an innovative sound for the historical First Congregational United Church of Christ in Downers Grove where he is the band director.
