Downers Grove Seeks Handmade Ornaments For Holiday Tree
The deadline to submit ornaments is Nov. 9.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL --- The holiday season is fast approaching and the Village of Downers Grove is already looking for ornaments to trim its Christmas tree. As part of its annual holiday tradition, the village is asking residents to craft ornaments to be displayed on the tree.
Families, teachers, and other groups are encouraged to design and make their own handmade ornaments and turn them in to the public works department a 5101 Walnut Ave. by Nov. 9 to see them adorning the tree once the holidays come. If you're interested in making an ornament, you must stick to the following guidelines:
- No sharp or pointy edges or heavy material
- Attach looped 10- to 12-inch string
- Use weatherproof material
- Make sure ornaments are at least 8 inches in diameter
The village reminds residents that ornaments will not be returned after the holidays.
