Downers Grove Students Chosen For All-State Musical

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — School may be out for summer, but a group of District 99 actors, stage crew members, and designers are already looking forward to the 2020 school year, when they will perform "Aida" at the Illinois High School Theatre Festival. The performance will take place at Illinois State University in early January.

The following District 99 students and staff were chosen from thespians throughout Illinois to be part of the production:

• Renee Boone from Downers Grove North: Cast member
• Travon Moore from Downers Grove North: Cast member
• Michael Mrozek from Downers Grove South: Stage crew member
• Matthew Spencer from Downers Grove North: Stage crew member
• Hazel Tan from Downers Grove South: Stage crew member
• Hunter Evans, a staff member from Downers Grove South: Scenic designer

The Illinois Theatre Festival is billed as the "largest and oldest non-competitive high school theatre festival in the nation." In addition to the all-state musical performance, the festival includes educational workshops, performances, and exhibitions.
