Downers Grove Teacher Accused of Sexual Harassment Resigns

William Miller, the Downers Grove teacher who was accused of sexual misconduct and harassment of students, has resigned.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL - A Downers Grove teacher accused of sexual harassment has resigned, according to a letter from District 99 Superintendent Hank Thiele. William Miller, who has taught at Downers Grove North since 1995, also forfeited his teaching license as part of the conditions of his resignation and agreed to never again teach in a K-12 setting.

In the statement, Thiele wrote that the district had conducted an investigation prior to the Miller's voluntary resignation. District officials, he wrote, "are unable to share details on any personnel matters related to current or former employees." The district, he added, is are fully cooperating in the ongoing investigation by the Downers Grove Police Department.

No charges have been filed at this time.

A former student alleged on social media that Miller, the school's band director, had sexually harassed her and other women when they were students at Downers Grove North in the late 1990s.
