Downers South Principal Honored With Principals Recongition Award
Downers Grove South Principal Ed Schwartz recently received the Principals Recognition Award from the IDSA.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Downers Grove South High School (DGS) Principal Ed Schwartz recently earned statewide recognition when he was awarded the Principals Recognition Award from the Illinois Directors of Student Activities (IDSA).
“Everything Ed does as principal is centered on students and their experience and growth,” Community School District 99 Superintendent Dr. Hank Thiele said in a statement.
Thiele added, “Ed has contributed greatly to supporting and encouraging students to become active in school activities and programs, and so he is very deserving of this recognition from IDSA.”

IDSA helps students develop leadership and relationship schools through a variety of activities.
“Ed is the biggest cheerleader we have here at DGS, and he can always be seen applauding the contributions and accomplishments of our students who are involved in activities,” Jennifer Martinez, director of student activities at DGS, said.

She added, “We teach our students to leave DGS better than they found it, and Ed is definitely doing just that.”
