Nashville Children’s Choir Coming To DGFUMC
The Nashville (TN) Children's Choir, an 80-voice children's choir comprised of boys and girls, ages 8 -14, will present a free concert entitled A Joyful Song, in the sanctuary on Saturday, May 12 at 7:00 p.m.
Functioning in cooperation with Belmont University, the choir is a part of the pre-college music program, the Belmont Academy. The Touring Choir fills a dual role as a quality choral organization and as an ambassador of good will, performing frequently throughout Nashville and Middle Tennessee with groups such as The Nashville Opera, The Nashville Symphony, The Middle Tennessee Choral Society, and recording artists Reba McEntire, Joe Diffy, and Riders in the Sky. They also recently sang for three performances with the Nashville Ballet and at the Governor's Prayer Breakfast.
The concert will also feature the Cantores Community Choir, which is comprised of more than 30 singers from the western suburbs performing, Songs of a Generation. Directed by Belford Hernandez, the choir will perform music representing various styles and genres, from spiritual and gospel to Broadway and Americana, as well as the premiere of two new compositions written by Belford.
