Community Corner

Explorers of faith

Come explore the new Sunday school programs for all ages at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Downers Grove.

The following programs offer new and exciting adventures for the children in the community and surrounding suburbs.

Nursery (younger than 2): For families who have children not able to fully participate in Sunday school, there are two options. You are welcome to bring them into the nursery room where there are toys, books and activities. If we have the required two church staff in the room, you are welcome to sign your child in and go back to service. If we are unable to accommodate on a day, please use the materials and know the room is equipped with a television where service is being streamed live for parents as to not miss anything. There is also a section in the back of the parlor for parents to sit with their child if they are anxious about separating from their family. There will be items for their enjoyment each week.

Preschool (ages 2 to 5 years): Preschool aged children join in each week as they learn about our relationship with God and Jesus. They listen to different stories each week and then be able to talk about it and ask questions.

The children have been engaged in conversations about this topic, asking questions like, “Who baptized John, so he could baptize Jesus? Each week, children can take home lessons with coloring sheets.
