Free Fun for All Ages on Tap for the Weekend
Lyman Woods, the library and the Downers Grove Museum host a variety of events.
This weekend, there are several opportunities for people to spend their time, not their money. Among the places scheduled to host free events are Lyman Woods Forest Preserve, the Downers Grove Public Library and the Downers Grove Park District Museum.
With this year's summer waning, Lyman Woods is inviting families to revive their wild side at the Great Outdoor Adventure Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Participants will have a chance to discover Lyman Woods' 150 acres of forest, prairie and marshland on guided hikes, as well as to navigate through the preserve's orienteering course.
"The goal of the day is to get families outdoors and to show people what they can do outside," said Shannon Forsythe, manager of natural resources and interpretive services at Lyman Woods.

On Sunday, the cliché quiet of the library will be filled with the sounds of classical music when Arianna kicks off another season of the Downers Grove Public Library's popular Sunday Afternoon Concert Series at 2 p.m.
The four-piece classical group, featuring musicians on flute, harp, violin and bass, is scheduled to be the first in a series of free live musical performances to be held once a month on Sundays at the library.
