Gun, Cash Stolen From Convenience Store: Downers Grove Crime Blotter

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A gun, cash and other items were stolen from a convenience store, items were stolen from Home Depot and other incidents were reported on the most recent crime blotter from the Downers Grove Police Department.

Convenience Store Burglarized on 75th Street

Police say someone smashed a glass door to gain entry to a convenience store located at 446 75th St. just before 2 a.m. Nov. 4. The victim told police a gun had been stolen, cash had been taken from the register and a wristwatch was missing. The damage to the front door was estimated at around $4,000.

Items Stolen from Home Depot

Someone stole several items from the Home Depot at 2000 Butterfield Rd. on the afternoon of Nov. 4, according to the police blotter. Police were informed that the person accused of stealing the items had fled from staff on foot before getting into a silver, white or gray car and driving west from the store.

A short time later, officers pulled over a car that matched that description near the intersection of Butterfield and Gray Avenue. According to police, the driver had items on their lap that had been reported stolen from the Home Depot.

During a search, police reported finding toilet paper, baby bottles, bottle brushes, a Ninja air fryer, towels and dog treats. Police say the person later admitted to having stolen items from the Home Depot in Downers Grove and one in Oak Brook.

Car Burglarized in 6500 Block of Main Street

Police say a car was burglarized while it was parked in the 6500 block of Main Street. The victim told police his wallet, keys and ear buds were stolen during the incident, which took place between 1 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Nov. 4.
