Gun, Cash Stolen During Car Burglaries In Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Downers Grove police responded to two car burglaries over the Fourth of July weekend. During one burglary, cash and a credit card were stolen. During another, a gun was stolen from the center console of a car, according to a recent police report.

The first burglary was reported in the 5000 block of Wilcox Avenue. A resident told police that someone got into their car sometime between 9:30 p.m. Friday and 7:20 a.m. Saturday. Police say a credit card, cash and a parking pass were stolen from the car.

Just before 8 a.m., another burglary was reported in the 4900 block of Douglas Road. The resident told police that they had left their car unlocked overnight and someone had gotten inside and stolen a loaded black 9mm handgun from the center console.
