Halloween Fest, Trick-Or-Treat Planned In Downtown Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Downtown Downers Grove plans to celebrate Halloween early with family-friendly events slated for Oct. 23 and Oct. 24. The festivities will include storefront window painting, trick-or-treating at local businesses, historical tales about some of the village's earliest settlers and more.

Oct. 23

Coffee and Donuts at Navigate Adolescence Fall Fundraiser

Freshly baked donuts, coffee, hot chocolate and other treats will be available outside Ballydoyle Irish Pub and Restaurant from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday as part of the Navigate Adolescence Fall Fundraiser. The suggested donation is $5 and proceeds benefit Navigate Adolescence, a non-profit that offers social and emotional support services for local adolescents.

Halloween Window Painting

Kids and families are encouraged to tap into their artistic sides and paint store windows in downtown Downers Grove from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday. Bring along a canned food item for donation to FISH Pantry and head to 933A Curtiss to pick up paint. Participants should bring their own brushes, but some brushes will be available for those who forget. Any store windows marked with orange stripes can be adorned with Halloween-themed painted creations.

Early Downers Grove Settlers Educational Tour

Follow the signs in downtown Downers Grove from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to learn about some of the village's earliest settlers. Audio files and written stories will share facts about these residents, whose burial sites can be viewed at Main Street Cemetery, 5158 Main St.

Halloween Fest Hosted by Downers Grove Noon Lions Club

Frightful fun is planned from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Fishel Park, 1036 Grove St. The annual fest is hosted by Downers Grove Noon Lions Club and will include themed games and a costume contest, with registration starting at 11:30 a.m.

Trick-or-Treating at Downtown Downers Grove Businesses
