Handmade Ornaments Being Sought For Downers Grove Holiday Tree
Residents can submit hand-crafted decorations for the tree by Nov. 19 before the tree is put into place at the Main Street train station.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — The calendar may say October, but the Village of Downers Grove is already prepping for the holidays. And local residents can have a hand in the festivities.
The village recently posted on its website that it is seeking handmade ornaments for the Downers Grove holiday tree that is displayed each year at the Main Street train station. The ornaments may be submitted by residents of all ages, scout troops and anyone else who lives in the community and wants to see their creations displayed on the tree.
In order to have ornaments considered for the tree, the decorations must be at least eight inches in diameter and weather-proof. Organizers ask that the decorations are not pointy or heavy enough to cause drooping. The hanging mechanism should be looped and 10-12 inches long.
