Harlem Wizards To Face District 58 Teachers In Fundaiser Game

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — The Harlem Wizards return to Downers Grove South High School on Jan. 15 to take on District 58 staff and teachers in a game to raise funds for the Education Foundation.

This marks the fifth year for the district's fundraiser with the Harlem Wizards, which were founded in 1962 by Howie Davis. Inspired by the Harlem Globetrotters, Davis aimed to have the Harlem Wizards dazzle crowds with a show of well-choreographed basketball tricks, skills and stunts.

It soon became the mission of the Wizards to help raise money for schools and nonprofits.

Those who attend the game can buy souvenirs, including a Wiz Kid jersey, the purchase of which gives students an opportunity to take a photo and have a basketball warmup session with the Harlem Wizards players. The team will also sign autographs.

The cost to attend the Harlem Wizards Fundraiser Game is $14 with a $1.50 service fee if bought via theDistrict 58 Education Foundation website. Remaining tickets will cost $16 at the game.
