Homemade Ornaments Sought For 2023 Holiday Tree In Downers Grove

Once again, Downers Grove residents are encouraged to make their own ornaments to dress up the village's holiday tree.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — The chill in the weather means the winter holidays are fast approaching, so Downers Grove is already encouraging residents to add warmth to this year's holiday tree by submitting their own homemade ornament. The deadline to submit an ornament for the 2023 holiday tree is Nov. 17.

Here are the requirements for the ornaments:

  • At least eight inches across
  • Loop 10- to 12-inch twine or swing onto ornament
  • Made of material that is weatherproof
  • No heavy, sharp or pointy ornaments

Ornaments must be dropped off at Downers Grove Public Works, 5101 Walnut Ave., with this ornament submission form, by Nov. 17. Residents should be advised that no ornaments will be returned.

Downers Grove's 2023 Tree Lighting Ceremony is scheduled for Nov. 24 at 4:30 p.m.
