Honey Stolen From Lyman Woods In Downers Grove
Police say thousands of dollars worth of honey was stolen from the park.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Police in Downers Grove are investigating an incident in which honey frames containing thousands of dollars worth of honey were stolen from Lyman Woods Interpretive Center. The incident was reported on Aug. 20.
Park district staff told police that 10 beehives were set up near the nature center to collect honey that is used to help fund park district programs. The bees usually produce between 200 and 300 pounds of honey, police were told.
The park's beekeeper reported that the honey frames were stolen and replaced with other frames. The total loss was estimated at over $2,000.
