Host Of Halloween Fun Offered In Westmont In 2021
A casket race, a zombie crawl, a pumpkin smash, a costume contest, a haunted hayride and more embrace the spooky season in Westmont in 2021.

WESTMONT, IL — Westmont offers a host of Halloween activities throughout October, including a casket race, a zombie crawl, a pumpkin smash and haunted hayrides. The festivities are part of the village's annual Wicked West Fest, which embraces all things eerie.

Oct. 8: Pumpkin Flotilla

Head to Diane Main Park, 200 W. 59th St., on Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. to watch jack-o'-lanterns sail across Twin Lakes as the sun dips beneath the horizon. During the free event, families can bring and carve pumpkins their own pumpkins to be included in the flotilla. Spots for pumpkins are available on a first come, first served basis. Oct. 16: Haunted Forest Tour

On Oct. 16, Diane Main Park will host haunted hayride tours that make their way through Smith Woods from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Bring younger children between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. for the Merry Monsters Matinee, a tour that features friendly monsters.
From 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Sheer Terror Tours will offer frights for older kids and adults.

Oct. 22: Ghost Stories at Smith Woods
Gather around a crackling fire pit at Sandra Smith Woods, 311 W. 55th St., to share ghost stories and munch on snacks. Click the link to register for the ghost stories event.
Oct. 23: Wicked West Fest Halloween Costume Contest
Residents are encouraged to don their best Halloween duds to compete in the Wicked West Fest Halloween Costume Contest, which is slated for Oct. 23 at 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Cass and Irving in downtown Westmont.
Six categories will be available in the costume contest:
- Newborn to 1-year-olds
- 2- to 5-year-olds
- 6- to 9-year-olds
- 10- to 13-year-olds
- 14 years and older
- Groups or families (must have at least three participants)
Oct. 23: Pumpkin Smashing Extravaganza
Community members will drop pumpkins from atop a bucket truck more than two stories high to try to hit a target. The winners will be named Pumpkin King or Queen.
Oct. 23: Trick or Treat Trail
Businesses in downtown Westmont will pass out candy to costumed kids from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 23 for this early trick-or-treating event.
Oct. 23: Caskets on Cass Race
Dozens of homemade caskets will race down Cass Avenue at 12 p.m. for this annual race, which features residents, local organizations and businesses.
Oct. 29: Spooktacular Fun Night
Trick-or-treating, a costume parade and interactive games await at Westmont Park District, 75 E. Richmond St., for Spooktacular Fun Night. The event, slated for Oct. 29 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., will have concessions available for purchase.
Oct. 30: Zombie Crawl
Adults who are 21 and older can indulge in Halloween-themed activities and food and drink specials along a zombie-themed pub crawl that stops at bars and restaurants throughout the village.
Transportation will be provided, with two different routes available. The "creepy route" stops at Uptown, Walsh Bar and Grill, Neat Kitchen and Bar and Pot Belly Pub. The "scary route" visits DJ's Johnny's Blitz Bar and Grill, Whiskey Hill Brewing and Fremont Bar and Grill.
Tickets are $18 per person and include a free T-shirt, transportation and food and drink specials. Zombie costumes are encouraged. Actual zombies are discouraged.

Oct. 31: Westmont 2021 Trick-or-Treat Times
Recommended trick-or-treating hours in Westmont are 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 31, which falls on a Sunday.
Homes that plan to welcome trick-or-treaters should keep their porch lights on, village officials suggest. Outdoor lights should be left off at homes that choose to decline trick-or-treaters.
Trick-or-treat signs are also available to let children know whether you'll be handing out candy. Click the link to access a printable trick-or-treat sign. Residents can also pick up signs at the Westmont Police Department, 500 N. Cass, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
