Ice Fest To Transform Downers Grove Into Winter Wonderland

DOWNERS GROVE, IL -- Downtown Downers Grove will sparkle with 45 hand-carved ice sculptures for the village's annual Ice Fest. The frosty festivities kick off with a preview event on Feb. 8 and the sculptures will be on display throughout the weekend. Visitors will even have a chance to see sculptors carve ice statues right before their eyes.

Residents can fuel up for the festival early on Feb. 9 with a pancake breakfast at First Congregational Church from 8 am. to 11 am. Later that day, Princess Elsa will join in the fun for a meet and greet at Downers Grove Public Library from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Kids can also chill out at the library and make winter-themed crafts throughout the day.

Local shops and restaurants will be offering up Ice Fest promotions that last the whole weekend, organizers said on the Facebook event page.

When: Feb. 8 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. and Feb. 9 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m .

Where: Downtown Downers Grove, with ice sculpting demonstrations at Main and Curtiss on Friday and at the Main Street Train Station and 5150 Main St. on Saturday
