Ice Rink To Cover McCollum Park Basketball Courts This Winter

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — This winter, the basketball courts at McCollum Park will be temporarily converted into an ice skating rink, as the ongoing construction at the park has left its usual rink location inaccessible.

During this time, residents can still make use of basketball courts at the following Downers Grove Park District locations:

• Concord Park
• Doerhoefer Park
• Gilbert Park
• O'Brien Park
• Sterling Davis Park

In August, crews began working on renovations to McCullom Park that include adding new splash areas and pickleball courts, renovating the plaza and expanding the park's asphalt walkway. The improvements are expected to be completed by summer of 2023.

The ice skating season in Downers Grove usually kicks off in mid-December and extends through February. Ice skating will also be available at Prince Pond and Whitlock Park.
