DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A resident found an intruder in her home, tires were slashed, a catalytic converter was stolen and other crimes were reported on the Downers Grove police blotter for the first half of January.
Catalytic Converter Stolen in 2200 Block of Prentiss Drive
A catalytic converter was cut from a 2005 Lexus while it was parked in the 2200 block of Prentiss Drive. The victim's father told police the car started smoking and making loud sounds when it was started. The incident took place sometime between 8:15 p.m. on Jan. 12 and 8:10 a.m. on Jan. 13.

Package Stolen in 2100 Block of Prentiss Drive
A resident told police their Fedex package was stolen from the mailroom of their building in the 2100 block of Prentiss Drive. Police say the resident got photo confirmation of the package's delivery on Dec. 28, but noticed it was not in the mailroom when they checked around 5:30 p.m. that day.

Tires Slashed in 4900 Block of Fairview Avenue
Police say tires were punctured on two vehicles at neighboring homes in the 4900 block of Fairview Avenue. This incident took place sometime between 2 a.m. and 11:57 a.m. on Jan. 15.
Home Burglarized in 1000 Block of Oak Hill Road
A resident told police she heard a noise and discovered an intruder in her home in the 1000 block of Oak Hill Road. According to the crime blotter, the resident heard the sound when she was upstairs around 6:37 p.m. on Jan. 14. She told police she went downstairs to make sure her husband was alright and saw someone fleeing down a corridor in the home. Police say the door to the home had been forced open, per the resident. A detailed description of the suspect was not available.
