Jewelry, Cash Stolen From 2 Homes In Downers Grove

Police say someone had broken the doors to the homes to gain entry.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Two homes were burglarized in Downers Grove within days of one another in late July, according to a recent crime blotter. Cash and various pieces of jewelry were stolen during the burglaries.

Apartment Burglarized in 5100 block of Main Street

A resident who had been hospitalized since July 20 told police they came home July 28 to find the front door to their second-floor apartment had been smashed open. Police say more than $1800 worth of jewelry was reported stolen.

House Burglarized in 1300 block of Maple Avenue

Police say a home in the 1300 block of Maple Avenue was burglarized sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. when someone broke into the back door of the house. The resident reported that $600 in cash was stolen from a purse inside the home.
