Liquor Store Break-In, Stolen Laptops, More: Downers Grove Blotter
More than $10,000 in cash, alcohol and cigarettes was stolen from DG Food and Liquors, according to the most recent crime blotter.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Burglars stole thousands of dollars worth of booze, cash and cigarettes from DG Food Mart and Liquors; laptops were stolen from Best Buy and other crimes were reported on the most recent Downers Grove Police blotter.
DG Food Mart and Liquors Burglarized
Police were called to DG Food Mart and Liquors, 2027 Ogden Ave., early April 7 for a report of a break-in. A key holder for the store told police someone shattered the door and removed thousands of dollars of liquor, tobacco items and cash. The following items were reported stolen:

- $400 cash
- 40 cartons of cigarettes
- 132 packs of cigarettes
- 15 ten-packs of tobacco vape pens
- 39 bottles of alcohol
In total, the loss was valued at $10,921.82.
Truck Burglarized in 2700 Block of Ogden Avenue

An unlocked truck was burglarized in the 2700 block of Ogden Avenue on April 5, according to the crime blotter. The victim told police his debit card was taken from his wallet and a backpack was also stolen from the truck.
Laptops Stolen from Best Buy
Police say a man stole two laptops from Best Buy on the evening of April 1. An employee told police a man asked to see two laptops and then asked the employee to find someone to translate for him. When the employee walked away, police say the man fled with two MacBook Pros valued at $2,699 and $2,499 respectively.
Liquor Stolen from Jewel-Osco on Ogden Avenue
A man stole four bottles of alcohol from the Jewel-Osco located at 1148 Ogden Ave. Police say the man stole a bottle of Makers Mark, a bottle of 1800 tequila and two bottles of Herradura tequila and then began walking to a restaurant across the street from the store. Employees told police the man had hidden the alcohol under his jacket and dropped two other bottles of liquor before fleeing the store.
Police charged Mack E. Scales with retail theft in connection with the incident.
