Midnight Showing Marks 35th Anniversary of “Alien” June 27 at Tivoli Theatre

DOWNERS GROVE - The Tivoli Theatre will host a special midnight showing to
commemorate the 35th anniversary of “Alien” on Friday,
June 27, 2014
. Admission to the midnight show is $5 per person, and

on the big screen the digitally remastered science fiction horror film “Alien,”
which was directed by Ridley Scott.



“Alien” (R/117
min.) is about a highly aggressive extraterrestrial creature that stalks and
kills the crew of a spaceship. The commercial vessel Nostromo receives a distress call from
an unexplored planet. After searching for survivors, the crew heads home only
to realize that a deadly bioform has joined them. The
film received critical acclaim, receiving an Academy Award for Best Visual
Effects and Saturn Awards for Best Science Fiction Film, Best Direction and
Best Support Actress for Veronica Cartwright. The movie also won a Hugo Award
for Best Dramatic Presentation.



Alien was inducted into
the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress for historical
preservation as a film that is "culturally, historically or aesthetically
significant.” In 2008, it was ranked as the seventh-best science fiction film
by the American Film Institute and as the 33rd greatest movie of all
time by Empire magazine.
