Midwestern Students Celebrate National Osteopathic Medicine Week

Midwestern University students celebrated National Osteopathic Medicine (NOM) Week in April

Midwestern University students celebrated National Osteopathic Medicine (NOM) Week in April with a variety of community service projects, educational events, and campus activities. Students from Midwestern’s Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (CCOM) participated in the events to increase awareness about osteopathic medicine and to promote healthy lifestyles.

During the week, CCOM students organized several community service projects such as volunteering at Pierce Downer School’s Science Olympiad and conducting a mini-medical school for students at Oak Lawn Community High School. In addition, they demonstrated their D.O. pride during several campus events and participated in a discussion with Mikhail Varshavski, D.O., commonly known as Doctor Mike, a board-certified family medicine doctor, social media personality, and philanthropist.

NOM Week was developed as a means for students, faculty, and physicians to come together and educate the public about osteopathic medicine.
