DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A woman claims an employee at KinderCare in Downers Grove recently threw her son onto a cot, hurting him, NBC reports.

DeMecia Rhodes told NBC she looked through a window at the day care center and saw the woman grabbing her son by his leg and arm, throwing him down and putting a blanket over his head as though she were trying to smother him. Rhodes took a video of the incident with her cellphone and shared it with NBC.

Rhodes says her son suffered bruising and that his face was swollen, so she took him to a local hospital.

KinderCare sent the following statement to Patch Monday morning:

Nothing is more important to us than children's safety. We take all concerns about the quality of our programs and our teachers seriously. This teacher was terminated immediately, and the actions that occurred last week do not reflect our company values nor the standards we hold our teachers to.
