New Barbecue Joint Coming To Finley Square In Downers Grove

Construction has begun on Mission BBQ, a national restaurant that will replace Ruby Tuesday's in Finley Square.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Barbecue lovers will soon have a new place to sate their cravings in Downers Grove. Construction has begun on a new Mission BBQ location that will replace the former Ruby Tuesday's restaurant at 1570 Butterfield in Finley Square. Michael Cassa, President and CEO of Downers Grove Economic Development Corporation gave the update on the restaurant at the village's Dec. 5 meeting.

Mission BBQ currently has several locations in 13 states throughout the U.S., including Tennessee, Delaware, New Jersey, and Florida. According to the Mission BBQ website, the Downers Grove restaurant will be its first in Illinois.

The menu at Mission BBQ is packed with smoked meats, racks, and other barbecue standbys, including an oak-smoked brisket and St. Louis-style spare ribs. Mission BBQ also serves up jalapeno and cheese sausage, North Carolina-style pulled pork sandwiches, and mouthwatering heaps of sliced turkey.

Sides include green beans and bacon, homemade mac 'n cheese, and baked beans with brisket. Diners can wash it all down with an ice-cold glass of lemonade or kettle-brewed iced tea.

Mission BBQ will also offer catering for both small and large gatherings, according to its website.

The restaurant considers it its mission to support U.S. service members and veterans by contributing to a number of organizations, including USO, the Navy Seal Foundation, and the Honor Flight Network.
