DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A new monthly event will be hosted by Loyal Order of Moose, Downers Grove Lodge 1535, following news that the annual Moose Cruise Nights will not return in 2026.

Downers Grove Moose Lodge President Angie Winslow told Patch the new "Fun Friday" outdoor event will feature live music, food and games each month from May through August. Like the Moose Cruise Nights, Fun Friday will donate proceeds from each event to a local charity.

"The Moose board decided to try something different this year," Winslow said.

She told Patch the volunteer-led Moose Cruise Nights was first started to replace the former classic car shows on Main Street in Downers Grove.

"Unfortunately, almost all comments we received were negative," Winslow said, with many people comparing the Moose Cruise Nights to the former Main Street show or to Westmont's classic car shows.

"It was frustrating for a small number of volunteers who gave up every Friday of their summers to run the shows."

Winslow said the lodge has enjoyed hosting Moose Cruise Nights over the past five years.

She said, "We're continuing our support as sponsors of two local Little League teams, a Downers DOLLS Softball team, Downers Grove Oktoberfest, Grove Fest, School District 58, and other local groups."

Patch will share more details about the "Fun Friday" schedule when they become available.
