Food and beverage companies market their products using bright, fun colors that appeal to a youthful eye! However, coloring additives contain chemicals like Yellow 5 and Yellow 6, which increase hyperactivity in children under 10. The hyperactivity matches the symptoms of ADHD.

Enter- Triple board-certified psychiatrist and clinical director at Moment of Clarity Mental Health Center, Dr. Raafat Girgis who says he has seen an increase in hyperactivity and encourages all parents to be more aware of these additives when feeding their children. Dr. Girgis recommends a whole-food diet for children who are already showing signs of hyperactivity since the gut is linked to your nervous system which can directly impact your mental health.
