• Answers Still Sought 50 Years After Murder Of Downers Grove Teen Jenny Lynn Springman (patch.com) — Downers Grove residents are being asked to help solve the 50-year-old murder of local teen Jennifer "Jenny" Lynn Springman, whose body was found near Hickory Creek in 1976. Marking the anniversary, Will County investigators are renewing their appeal for any memories or tips, stressing that even small details from that night near George Williams College in Downers Grove could now prove crucial.
   

• Village, Park District To Present Stormwater Detention Improvements For Hummer Park (patch.com) — Downers Grove officials are planning stormwater detention upgrades at Hummer Park to help keep floodwater off Fairview Avenue, and residents can weigh in at a public meeting expected Oct. 12. The village would fund and manage the project, which includes native landscaping and is already penciled into the 2027 budget, with an intergovernmental agreement expected by year's end.
   

• Chris Georgas, York get redemption, hand Downers Grove North first loss in OT thriller (shawlocal.com) — Downers Grove North's unbeaten football season ended in dramatic fashion with an 18-17 overtime loss to York, decided on a walk-off touchdown and two-point conversion. The Trojans' strong defense and earlier shutouts weren't enough as York's run game and late-game execution shifted momentum heading into the season's final stretch.
